Terms & Conditions
Service Terms & Conditions
This important document sets out the terms and conditions of your training towards a professional beauty qualification with the Therapist Training Academy.
1. Payment for training
Your training must be paid for in advance. No training materials, guidance, access to our learning portal or practical training will be provided (or issued to you) until the training course is paid for in full. The price for the training will be quoted to you at the time of enquiry.
You will be permitted to pay for the training in the following ways:
· By credit or debit card
· By bank transfer
· Pay Pal
You will be sent an invoice and a receipt for the transaction.
Once you have chosen to pay for the course, no refunds will be granted. If you choose not to progress with the course, this is not our responsibility. You will have 12 months to complete the course from the point you have paid for it.
2. Training method and content
Our training courses split into two parts. These are as follows:
a) Essential background knowledge and theory
b) Practical skills
After your payment for the course is cleared, you will be sent a comprehensive electronic training manual and access to our online training portal will be granted.
Note:
We can send printed course materials to you, but these incur an additional cost of £35.
You have as much time (inside the 12 months) as you need to read and digest the content of the theoretical training manual and the associated information that we send to you. We understand that your time to do the theory side of the training may need to be found around your home life and other work commitments. We would expect most people will be able to complete the theory inside a period of 2–4 weeks, if 1-2 hours per day is allocated. There is an online assessment and Knowledge Test, and you must pass this before you can progress to the physical training.
Your practical training will take place as soon as you have confirmed your comfortable understanding of the theoretical information by passing the Knowledge Test and having had the opportunity to practice some of the facial skills on yourself.
The venue, date and time of the training will be confirmed to you by email. We will be as flexible as we can in offering date options for the practical training.
Most of our practical trainings are either half a day, or one day duration. Depending on which course options you take, a collection of our courses could be 2 days or more.
The practical training is modular in nature. We will brief you on each aspect of delivering the treatment. We will ask you to physically demonstrate that you fully understand each aspect and that you can prepare for and deliver a quality and safe treatment to clients.
We will ask you to sign and confirm your understanding of /and compliance with, each aspect of the treatment process.
At the end of the practical training, the trainer will assess and look to pass you. If you do not pass your practical test, you will be allowed to re-sit the task at no additional cost. This will need to take place on a future date.
Your formal certification of training completion and accreditation will be sent to you within 14 working days of completing the practical training.
Please note: we hold all copies of signed training documentation as proof that we have comprehensively delivered an effective training course, and that you have acquired the knowledge, skill and competencies to deliver both quality and safe treatments to your paying clients. We may use video to record some aspects of the training. This video footage is for our records only but can be provided to you on request.
3. Adherence to treatment methods
The allocation of your qualification is based on the passing of our examinations and strict adherence to the treatment techniques we teach you.
We will advise you on the recommended product measures and exact brand of products that were used in the training. Importantly, these products must be used. Use of other products and different ingredients invalidates your qualification. This is because we have not done due diligence research on anything other than our list of approved products.
Our list of approved treatment products is attached as Schedule 1.
4. Insurance
To practice as a professional therapist from TTA and deliver the trainings you have become qualified in can only be done if you have valid Professional Indemnity Insurance and Public Liability Insurance. You are responsible for getting this insurance in the name of your company and for the treatment types we specify.
Please DO NOT deliver treatments unless you have a valid insurance certificate. We cover the subject of insurance, where you can obtain it from and what type you need within one of the modules within the course.
5. Customer disclaimers
The treatments we have taught you are safe. The products we have accredited are professionally manufactured and comply with international safety standards and requirements. Despite this, although being highly unlikely, a tiny percentage of people may have an adverse reaction to the treatment process and products.
To avoid and protect yourself from customers seeking compensation after an adverse reaction to a treatment, please ensure you complete a skin analysis and client discovery before administering a treatment and get all customers to sign the 'treatment permissions and disclaimer form'.
Do not administer any treatment if you are not certain of the client’s skin condition and suitability for one of your treatments.
Be sure to keep the a) client skin assessment and b) permission and disclaimer form somewhere safe, as your insurer will need to see this in the event of a claim.
6. Copyright
All of the training materials and methods we use are the intellectual property of The Therapist Training Academy. You are not allowed to copy our manuals, adjust them and position them as your own, or share or discuss any of our training materials with anyone whatsoever. If you do this, we will regard this as breach of our copyright and legal proceedings may commence.
7. Responsibility
As an independently qualified facial therapist, and as the operator of your own business, you are fully responsible for the treatments you administer, and any customer liability resides with you and not Therapist Training Academy. You hereby indemnify Therapist Training Academy from the consequences of any treatments you deliver.
8. Tax and earnings
You are responsible for the payment of your own tax and government insurances. Whilst we will recommend a pricing structure you apply to your business and decisions about what you charge to the client resides with you. We make no guarantees about the income you can earn on the back of acquiring this qualification. Your income will vary dependent on the effort you apply. This is a training course and not employment.
